The Tanzania Sanitation Project Speaks at the UN
On April 9th, 2008, the members of the TSP attended the event of The Occasion of Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness for the Women of Tanzania and the Recognition of the Goodwill Ambassador of WAMA-Tanzania, Ms. Maria Kerins. The event took place in the Delegates Dining Room at the UN and was in honor Ms. Kerins (the administrator of the TSP) for her tireless efforts in assisting and supporting WAMA-Tanzania, more specifically her work with breast cancer.

During the event, the president of TSP, Katie Simon, and Maya Kurien, Head of Fundraising for TSP, made a speech in front of the audience regarding our admiration for Ms. Kerin's efforts in addition to her valued contributions the United Nations School.

Furthermore, we spoke about The Tanzania Sanitation Project and our objectives, and are proud to say that we received great, positive feedback from the audience! We were honored to have the pleasure of meeting Mama Selma Kikwete, First Lady of Tanzania, who is more than enthusiastic with the project and invited us to Tanzania this August to execute our pilot project. Equally remarkable was meeting Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to the United Nations, Mr. Mahiga, who keenly offered unlimited assistance and contributions to the project!

We would like to thank everyone at the ceremony for their immensely appreciated enthusiasm and support with the project and mostly, Ms. Kerins for providing us with the opportunity of being a part of such a challenging and rewarding project, and for all her valuable contributions to not only the school, but the country of Tanzania.

We are expecting to have everything up and running within the next few weeks.

Welcome to Tanzania Sanitation
If you are reading this, welcome. If you are new to The Tanzania Sanitation Project and/or its concept - it's a great place to start. Here's some brief information about us.

The Tanzania Sanitation Project is a non-profit mission aiming for a healthier, stronger, greener future for Tanzania. The project was established and is currently operated by several 10th grade students and faculty of the United Nations International School.

Proper waste management is a necessity for today's civilization in order to maintain a healthy, sanitary life, yet countless third-world countries are deprived of this need. The improper management of wastes triggers severe environmental and health problems, with the consequences of poor waste management on human health and the environment becoming more noticeable each day. Our project aims to implement a waste management system in Tanzania, one country where improper waste management uncontrollably affects and burdens the population's daily lives.

This information can be found on our About page here.

We've recently implemented a discussion forum where you can give us your input one various aspects of the project as well as discuss our current plans of action. Becoming a member is extremely simple and completely free (because we are a non-profit organization), click here and follow the registration steps.

If you have any general questions or suggestions, please don't hesitate to contact us.
